The
Allentown, PA branch of the SEIU has a Boy Scout in their crosshairs (hat tip Oilacct):
In pursuit of an Eagle Scout badge, Kevin Anderson, 17, has toiled for more than 200 hours hours over several weeks to clear a walking path in an east Allentown park.
Little did the do-gooder know that his altruistic act would put him in the cross hairs of the city's largest municipal union.
Nick Balzano, president of the local Service Employees International Union, told Allentown City Council Tuesday that the union is considering filing a grievance against the city for allowing Anderson to clear a 1,000-foot walking and biking path at Kimmets Lock Park.
"We'll be looking into the Cub Scout or Boy Scout who did the trails," Balzano told the council.
We are witnessing the dying gasps of the big government labor unions. But as the end draws closer they become more dangerous to those of us who pay the bills.

Lou, don't count them out by any means....they control both congress and the white house...card check will give them unlimited ability to force union membership on people...rather like the communist party of old...it's a brave new world out there.
Shoot! and SEIU had this scoped out as a two year, $15M project.
I used to like SEIU. Until I saw this story. My standards for Public Employee Unions were low anyway. The one I was most familiar with was AFSCME.
I worked for state govt for 35 years. AFSCME was good at taking all the credit for things they did not do.
AFSCME was good at getting someone's job back that richly deserved firing. The one time I got in trouble they told me "Wul.... if ya git fired we ul git yew a lawyur."
They rigged the system so that everything went by seniority. When I finally got some decent seniority they switched it around to where seniority did not count. Why? All of the older employees eventually retired, quit,or got fired. The local was taken over by younger employees with no seniority who were not willing to wait for people like me to get out of their way.
I used to be a big believer in unions even though I'm basically a conservative. I was young and foolish then.
I once tried to get in the electricians union. I had over 990 hours of training. NO dice. A few years ago I asked a union electrician how to wire a simple three way switch. It had been so long for me I had forgotten how. He was clueless as to what I was talking about.
